The Words of a Blogger Friend about Annointed, Transformed and Redeemed
We are starting a new Bible study this Sunday Night at 5:30 called Annointed, Transformed and Redeemed.
Beth Moore, Kay Arthur and Priscilla Shirer. I thought you might like to read a review from one of my Blogger Friends who recently started the same study. I hope you enjoy her thoughts.
“So we are starting a new Bible study at church. It is called Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed: A Study of David and is from the Deeper Still event that was in Nashville last year and featured Priscilla Shirer, Beth Moore, and Kay Arthur. It is six weeks long and is divided into 2 sessions for each speaker. Priscilla talks about David’s anointing, Beth talks about his transformation, and Kay talks about his redemption.
I must admit that after coming out of the Psalms of Ascent study, I didn’t really have very high expectations for this one. I mean I knew it would be good, but that study was so awesome and I got so much out of it that I was afraid this study would pale in comparison. Boy, was I wrong. lol So far this study has picked up, at least in my life and what I am experiencing right now, exactly where the other one left off.
In the introductory session I get my first taste of Priscilla Shirer. LOVE HER. I have done a lot of book studies, but these classes have been my first real encounter with women of God who speak with His authority and blessing. Where have I been?
Anyway, she gave us a introduction to David and told us several things about him.
1. David knew WHOSE he was, and he knew who he was.
1 Chronicles 14:2 says, “So David knew that the LORD had established him as king over Israel, for his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake of His people Israel.
I am not sure where I first heard it, but one of my favorite statements is that you have to know WHOSE you are before you can know WHO you are. So I was really excited that she started off this lesson in this manner. I firmly believe that until we find our identity in Christ, we really have no clue who we are supposed to be or what we are capable of doing. I can’t do anything, but I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.
The word “established” is the same word used in Psalm 119:90 to talk about how the Lord established the eart or founded the earth. It carries with it the connotation of ”unmovable, unshakeable.” UNMOVABLE. UNSHAKEABLE. God established David - unmovably, unshakeably - as king over Israel.
2. Since I am a believer in Jesus Christ, the anointing of God rests on my life.
Anointing is a divine empowerment or enablement to accomplish God’s purposes for your life. Samuel anointed David to be king when he was only 15 years old. And he was NOT what people though of as kingly material (1 Samuel 16). Appearance doesn’t matter to God. Education doesn’t matter to God. Gender doesn’t matter to God.
I am slowly starting to realize that ALL Christians are called to be workers in the Kingdom of God. We don’t all have to be preachers or missionaries vocationally. But we ARE all preachers and missionaries individually - whether it is volunteering in church or helping out a neighbor. Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, will equip us with everything we need to accomplish our purpose.
Now, I have been in church all my life, so I have always known that when you accept Christ, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell, or live, inside of you. But I am just recently beginning to grasp what that means. The Holy Spirit is not our conscience. It is not a little angel that sits on one shoulder and argues with the little red devil that sits on the other. The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the TRINITY - no less than God the Father or Jesus the Son. THIS ASPECT OF GOD LIVES IN US.
GOD DWELLS IN US. We are now His tabernacle. His dwelling place. We are not in our circumstances by chance.
3. I need to develop a God-consciousness.
I need to set up the presence of God as the central focal point of every decision I make. That means I need to KNOW God’s heart. I learn about His heart by reading His Word and spending time in prayer. I have made a concentrated effort lately to devote more time to true, honest, seeking prayer and Bible study. Not just pumping out a “Now I lay me down to sleep” before I go to bed and checking off the next chapter in my reading plan. Really, truly talking to God as if He were right there in the room with me. BECAUSE HE IS. Asking for Him to show me things in His Word that I have never seen before. AND HE HAS.
I want my life to be a reflection of His grace and glory. That is my purpose. I know Whose I am.
I think this study is going to be fabulous! Have I ever looked forward to Wednesdays like I do now?? I don’t think so.
So happy for you and the way God is speaking to you and opening doors for you!
